Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Steel City Blues (SCB) is an annual weekend of blues dancing featuring three tracks of workshops and live bands from the Rust Belt. SCB is enthusiastically all about blues – the music, the dance, and the people that keep it alive – with a focus to both bring in renown and up-n-coming talent.
SCB takes extra effort to be the entryway for newer blues dancers both with a low-barrier competition and workshop track dedicated towards fundamentals.
Finally, SCB is devoted towards promoting a healthy blues dance environment.
Our policies on topics such as proper dance etiquette and maintaining a fragrance-free zone are reinforced with a dedicated team while time is separated to ensure all attendees are aligned and aware of those policies.
Beyond policy, SCB emphasizes the importance of recognizing blues history and culture while taking steps to promote it through our event – providing resources to learn more about blues history, working with new blues talent, and directly working with local black communities where possible.
